Engage Your Students in Productive Math Talk

Do you find yourself struggling with what to say during number talks? We will show you what to say to promote confidence, inclusivity, and the "aha" moments you are searching for.

A student's number sense is directly connected to their fluency!

And math fluency isn’t gained from flash cards and other drill and kill methods.

All too often fluency and number sense are confused with memorization. Strong fluency and number sense come from an understanding of the concepts and the skills to utilize them.

Memorization is a part of the equation and students who develop number sense and fluency will ultimately memorize many math facts.

But memorization will not be crucial once students have the ability to figure out math facts in a variety of ways. And we want memorization to be a side effect of plenty of number sense and fluency practice instead of the basis for our instruction.
